Home American Mortgage is the worst experience I had with the process of Buying my house, No Communication and they don't even care. There are a large number of issues that we pointed out prior to closing. They fixed some of them but once we closed, it is difficult to get any help to finish up with the issues.
Although the projected completion time was longer than expected, the home is great and the sales/contracting teams were very professional. Although, I feel that construction workers really should not leave their food and beverage garbage in someone's home. We visited the site on a weekly basis and there was always garbage just throw all over place when there was a huge dumpster right outside on the lot. I also became concerned when I noticed a wooden support beam that was split and was told that the house had already been inspected by their contracted inspector and was approved for next phase. I call and do not get any answers and I get told I’ll receive a call back with all the answers I need and nothing, no callbacks ever.

My front door is broken, I have no doorknobs installed, paint job is horrible, trimming is not connected. I will never recommend Richmond to anyone. DO NOT USE RICHMOND AMERICAN HOMES MORTGAGE DIVISION. TERRIBLE SERVICE , COMMUNICATION AND NO GUARANTEE THAT LOAN WILL GO THROUGH BEFORE CLOSING .

I agreed but had a terrible feeling about this house due to other things. We back out prior to our walkthrough due to feeling we were misled. They refuse to give us our $9,200 back claiming "Buyer remorse". DON'T BUY A RICHMOND AMERICAN HOME. They also put in a vent all the way through the wall for a ventless microwave. The executive/corporate structure is extremely outdated and it shows through everything else. Benefits, pay, time off, regulations, etc. are all subpar. Lower level employees have to work extremely hard and it makes the executives a ridiculous amount of money. Love the opportunity to run my own business per say. You are essentially an agent for the builder.
We hope this additional option puts clean, renewable energy within reach for more house hunters. Not enough support from office management, too many homes one person to effectively manage and build a quality home. I initially chose to allocate it to the final purchase price of the home. I wanted to switch it to buy down my rate later on. Since the home came in appraised under the final purchase price... Richmond refused to allow me to buy down my rate and use my incentive the way I wanted to because it would've allowed me to walk from the home per VA regs.
Many issues have also been reported to warranty. So far, only one issue had been scheduled for repair, but the worker did not call or show up and I have not been able to get a response from anyone since. Absolutely every trade messed up on our new build. We have been supervising fixes for a year. Basement windows were replaced due to defective.
